Headways Program

The Headways program is structured to foster a variety of personal goals that young paddlers may approach our practice with. Practices will be structured with fun, competitive aspects, as well as longer distance paddles, in order to either prepare paddlers to advance from the Beginner Racing League to Developmental 1 Team by building paddling endurance and incorporating competitive aspects, or as a laid-back alternative for paddlers who do not wish to train for competitive sprint kayaking. The program will serve as a bridge to close the gap that young paddlers may find themselves in between completing the Beginner Racing League and qualifying in the time trials for the Developmental 1 team.
Athletes are only moved to the D1 program after the BRL program has completed and coaches have approved of an advancement. BRL is required to advance through the ranks. Heaways is a great place to furthur skills and develop in between BRL seasons.
Additionally, members are not required to move up to the competition program and may participate for exercise and enjoyment.
