The Gainesville Hall Dragon Boat Challenge returns in 2026 for a full day of competitive racing, team building, and community engagement, benefiting the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club (LCKC).

Time: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Registration Incentive
Teams that register by January 31, 2026 will receive 10 complimentary parking passes.
Entry & Practice Sessions
Each team entry includes one 1.5-hour coached practice session conducted by a trained steersperson prior to race day. Practice sessions will be held during the following windows:
- Thursday, April 17 – Evening
- Friday, April 18 – Daytime
- Saturday, April 19 – Daytime
Teams will select their preferred practice time during registration.
Boat & Team Format
- 10-person dragon boats with 1 drummer (teams of 11)
- Maximum combined team weight: 2,000 lbs
This format is well suited for:
- Small businesses and corporate teams
- Community and church groups
- Neighborhood and social teams
The event uses small dragon boats, making it an ideal introduction to dragon boat racing or a skills-building opportunity for teams preparing for larger festivals.
All event proceeds benefit the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club.
Race Format
- Each team will compete in three 200-meter races:
- Two qualifying heats
- One final race
An optional long-distance race of approximately 2,000 meters will be offered for Open Division teams, with limited availability for additional teams interested in participating.

- Scott Crain Memorial Overall Champion Award
- Medals awarded to the top three teams in each division
