Sev de Neergaard

Member At-Large

Sev de Neergaard has been involved with Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club for more than 15 years, beginning as a summer camp participant before progressing through the Developmental and High Performance programs. Over time, his role within the club expanded to include camp counselor, rental associate, Beginner Racing League coach, and long-time volunteer, reflecting a deep and ongoing commitment to LCKC at every level.

After a shoulder injury ended his sprint racing career, Sev remained closely engaged with the club by taking on leadership roles in event operations, finish timing, and technology. Since 2014, he has helped oversee timing and technical operations for nearly every major event held at Lake Lanier Olympic Park, including U.S. National Championships, the 2016 Pan American Championships, and the 2018 ICF Dragon Boat World Championships. In recognition of his contributions, Sev was named LCKC Volunteer of the Year in 2019.

As a lifelong Gainesville native who grew up on Lake Lanier, Sev is deeply invested in the long-term success of the club and its community. As a member of the Board of Directors, he is focused on supporting LCKC’s continued growth through thoughtful use of technology, strong event operations, and sustainable programs that serve both current athletes and future generations of paddlers.
